Oui, J'taime

The saucisson, the wine, the irritable geese, all great memories of a trip to Paris and the back of beyond in Brittany. Interestingly, I once put the lyrics to J'taime into Google translate and it returned one of most unsavoury lines I've ever stumbled across.

The Bearded Detective - Work in progress

A work in progress page, from a fresh-faced, bearded new comic I'm working on with The Yellow Sign (purveyors of vibrant new music and shortly other wares). The page above is still to be bathed in washes of black ink, which should hopefully lend it the Noir feel I'm aiming for.

The Idiot

I recently sat in on a talk by Jake and Dinos Chapman about their wonderfully unsavoury children's illustrations. They lamented the lack of time people are willing to dedicate to wrestling with more challenging, complex work...I nodded in agreement all the while conscious that I'm a repeat offender in this regard. The drawing above is a resultant self portrait.

I enjoyed a scene very similar to this whilst traversing the Heath. The dad and son's enthusiasm was completely undiminished by the doomed first flight.
